Man, woman hit by shotgun blasts on Blue Ridge Parkway

Story here.

Not a lot of information to go on. It did raise my eyebrows when I saw the ages of the couple, though.

A 27-year-old man from Charlottesville and an 18-year-old woman from Palmyra were shot shortly before 7:45 p.m. Monday as they sat in their car near the Rock Point Overlook, at mile marker 10 on the parkway’s northern end, Augusta County Sheriff Randy Fisher said Tuesday in a news release.

They got very, very lucky someone found them before they died.

Fisher said both victims were hit by shotgun blasts in their upper bodies, and the man fell about 150 feet off the overlook after being shot. A couple driving along the parkway found the woman, then called emergency officials.

Again, there’s not a lot of information, but be aware.

Police are searching for a red or maroon sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus, driven by a white man with gray, thinning hair. The man may be armed with a shotgun and is considered dangerous.
