Hypocrisy, thy name is R.C. Soles, Jr.

North Carolina Senator R.C. Soles has been indicted for shooting Kyle Blackburn. A grand jury has indicted R.C. Soles for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, a felony charge which carries a maximum sentence of 31 months in prison. R.C. Soles, 74, shot Kyle Blackburn, a 22-year-old man, in the leg at Soles’ house; R.C. Soles claims he was acting in self-defense, and that Kyle Blackburn was trying to break into the house.

R.C. Soles, a Democrat and North Carolina’s longest-serving senator, was known for being a gun-control advocate. [emphasis mine]

For me, but not for thee, huh? I wish we could impeach legislators like that.

I will withhold judgment on the actual shooting. There are allegations that Blackburn was trying to kick in his door at the time and the shooting was self-defense, and allegations that it was a lover’s spat gone wrong, etc., etc. Remember, an indictment is not a conviction – he is innocent until proven guilty. The old saying that a prosecutor could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich generally holds true.

The hypocrisy, though, is proven, and demonstrates an attitude common among gun-banners. They have nothing against guns themselves, they just don’t trust “the commoners” with them. It also earns him the “Evil Bastards” category for this post.
