Range killing update – Suspect in custody

Sebastian at Snowflakes in Hell notes that police have arrested a suspect in the Cumberland County shooting range killing. The man they believe did it is a state prison guard. It sounds like a pretty strong case.

At a news conference Friday evening, [Cumberland County District Attorney] Freed said police found the rifle Getgen had with him at the range, as well as the weapon believed to be used in the killing and a third gun stolen from the range in May.

The police had a nightmare job in this investigation.

For two days, authorities scoured the range for evidence — a tough job because of all the spent shell casings littering the grounds. By the end of last week, police said they knew the kind of gun used to kill Getgen.

I really would not have to search a public range for evidence of a shooting.  It’s like, well…

River: Like looking for a needle in a haystack.
The Doctor: A needle that looks like hay. A hay-like needle. Of death. A hay-like needle of death in a haystack of, er, statues. No, yours was fine…

Following the range safety rules this prompted me to post is still a good idea. This wasn’t the first time something like this happened, and it certainly won’t be the last.
