Heard on an NPR report this morning about testimony in the Fort Hood shooting:
“Lunsford described how he locked eyes with Maj. Nidal Hassan seconds before a laser-guided pistol raked across his face, just before the Army psychiatrist allegedly shot him in his left eye.”
[emphasis mine, quote starts at about 0:35 into the report]
Huh? A “laser-guided pistol?” What’s that?
If you’re going to report on something, don’t embellish terms if you don’t know what they mean in the first place. It just makes you sound incompetent.
